Patsy Eckert, a native Montanan, was born in Bozeman & grew up in Ennis & Butte. In 1986, she returned home to her beloved Ennis with her artist husband, Harvey.
Patsy started painting seriously at an early age, taking classes in oil painting at the Butte YMCA. In recent years, her interest has turned to Sumi-e ink painting. She has developed her own unique style in the ancient Chinese discipline of sumi-e painting combined with watercolor and gouache.
Other original works range from her small 2 1/2 inch miniature oil and acrylic paintings to more traditionally sized watercolor, acrylic & oil paintings. Trained mainly as a landscape artist, she enjoys painting historic buildings & floral landscapes of Montana & the Madison River Valley.
Patsy's artwork has been in many juried shows & she has been recognized with many awards for her work. Patsy has served as chairman of numerous art shows & as a juror for countless art shows & competitions. She is currently a member & past president of the Ennis Arts Association.
An enthusiastic painting instructor, she has taught aspiring artists of all ages. Patsy feels that painting teaches a person to truly "SEE" the world in which they live & to appreciate all things large or small that may otherwise go unnoticed. "Art," Patsy Eckert is quoted as saying,"is truly an exercise in discovery." As one can see, her work exhibits a quiet serenity mixed with refreshingly powerful originality.
Patsy Eckert is currently teaching workshops in a variety of media, including mono printing, watercolor & acrylic painting at the Mountain Creative Concepts Studio in Ennis, Montana.
